The MCF awarded £500,000 to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust to help fund the development of their programme which aims to help people living with Cystic Fibrosis avoid almost daily trips to hospital.
Cystic Fibrosis Trust innovative programme, called SmartCareFC, has been largely funded by a grant from the Foundation. SmartCareFC will explore the benefits of monitoring the condition at home and liaising with specialist health teams remotely. This should avoid people living with the condition having to repeatedly travel into hospital.
Avoiding regular hospital visits could reduce the risk of hospital-based infections and lessen the daily burden of living with the condition.
